What are the different editions of FIFA 18?

FIFA 18 is available for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, with a ‘special’ (being polite) Legacy Edition also available for last generation consoles.

Obviously, if you’re buying for someone else, you need to get the right version. But, confusingly, there are several editions for each platform – standard, Ronaldo and ICON.

Now we’re several weeks into the season and well past pre-sale bonuses, the difference between these basically boils down to the number of FIFA points included – that’s the currency used to build an Ultimate Team.

With the standard edition you don’t get any bonus points. With the Ronaldo Edition you get a reasonable 3000, and with the mega-expensive ICON Edition you get a whopping 8000. With the latter two, you also get to take players on a three-match loan.

The aforementioned Legacy Edition, on PS3 and Xbox 360, is simply last year’s version with updated squads and kits – and zero game enhancements.
