The France international has been forced to watch Barca’s last 22 matches from the sidelines but is now champing at the bit to return.
He is said to be pushing extremely hard to be back before the New Year and wants to return to action with the other players within 15 days.
However, Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Barca are concerned he could be training too hard and have advised him to take it easy.
Lionel Messi has reportedly waded into the situation, offering his advice to the former Borussia Dortmund man.
The Barca legend is said to have echoed the club’s sentiments and told him to stop rushing his return to fitness.
Don Balon claim he has taken a calm approach with Dembele, using his own injury examples from his early days at the Nou Camp to get through to the Frenchman.
And surgeon Sakari Orava, who operated on Dembele in Finland, claimed last month he hopes Dembele sticks to his original injury schedule.
“I am in permanent contact with Dr. Pruna [Barcelona doctor], who is sending me reports about how Dembele’s doing,” he said.
“So far, everything’s going fine and his recovery is going well.
“Like most kids his age, he’s optimistic but I prefer to be a little more cautious and stick with the original assessment.”
Dembele made only for appearances for Barcelona this season before injury struck, providing two assists in all competitions.
