However, the midfielder is now stepping up his recovery and having already returned to individual work on the pitch, he joined in with team-mates for the first time since September on Wednesday.
Barcelona youngster Ousmane Dembele was back in training with the first team on Wednesday
He took part in a ‘rondo’ with team-mates as he steps up his recovery from a hamstring injury
Barcelona’s Twitter posted two pictures of the young star and accompanied it with the message: ‘Ousmane Dembele takes part in his first “rondo” with the squad before continuing his solo work as his recovery from injury carries on.’
Dembele has been out since leaving the field during the 2-1 win over Getafe in September.
Boss Ernesto Valverde and the Barcelona medical team have yet put a date on when the 20-year-old may return to full action.
It may be wise to allow the former Rennes man some much needed time to recuperate, after his surgeon raised his belief that the injury may have been inflicted by the unnecessary pressures that have come with his huge price tag.
Dembele has not played for Barcelona since injuring himself against Getafe in September
Sakari Orava told Mundo Deportivo in November: ‘Maybe it was a sin of youth not to say that he felt pain in that area before.
‘The pressure he’d been exposed to after his signing for Barca also could have influenced it.’
Barcelona are back in action, without Dembele, on Sunday when they travel to face Villarreal in La Liga.
